Owners Comments:
Sagittarius is a European imported warmblood stallion. This well bred stallion has light
movement and passes on his willing disposition, size, colour and exceptional jumping
ability. Senator, Sacremento Song, Whanfried, Domspatz - all these famous names
appear close in his pedigree.
He has sired a dressage champion, successful jumpers and simply wonderful amateur
horses. He has three elegant gaits, light and elastic. Wonderful balance in his ground
work and over fences. He is easily trained and gives 100% every ride. He is light and
responsive to the aids, trying to please with every step he takes. He is quick, active
and powerful behind while light and responsive in front, making him a dream to ride for
the professional and patient so the amateur is not overwhelmed.
Sagittarius has a 'beautiful mind', a trait that he consistently passes on to his offspring.
Syndicate's pedigree includes Domspatz: 1952 16hh black stallion by Doemitz I out of
Grafenhaus from the famous Hanoverian D line of Grand Prix jumping horses.
Senator is also in his pedigree: The Trakehner stallion Semper Idem came to Germany
after World War II. and produced the famous Senator (1954-1973), a remarkable
stallion who gave his name to the line.
Sacremento Song (TB): Sacramento Song was a classically bred English Thoroughbred,
who stood in Holstein from 1973 to his early death in 1979. He is described in Dr
Dietrich Rossow’s Stallion Book of the Holsteiner Warmblood Breed as: "A classically
bred, English Thoroughbred, with beautiful, smoothly harmonious topline. Beautiful
head, rather low set on neck, impressive shoulder with good coupling to the croup. Well
muscled, strong legs and feet, sufficient gaits. Tremendous jumping ability, very tight
with front end and good with knees." "Very good temperaments, keen, energetic
dispositions, often rather hot. Stallions and geldings steadier in competition than mares,
who were often ‘witchy’. Top jumper sire!"
Alas as a private stallion he was only sparingly used by the Holstein breeders to their
later regret. By 1990 with progeny earnings of DM696,000 he was the 8th most
successful post-war Thoroughbred sire in Germany! Sacramento Song had 31
competitors with placings, 29 of which were showjumpers.
